Drain & Sewer Serving Cumberland County Homes & Businesses
A backed-up kitchen sink or a shower that won’t drain can stop a household or business in its tracks. Technicians arrive in fully stocked service trucks carrying mechanical cabling equipment, high-pressure water jetting gear, and video inspection tools every day, not as a side capability.
Before any work begins, we review what we found and walk you through your options. Flat-rate pricing means you know the cost and what it covers before we start.
Ready to clear a clogged drain in Cumberland County? Call us at (207) 495-7793 or schedule service online and we can get a technician to you with a confirmed arrival window. Why Cumberland County Property Owners Call Zoom Drain of New England
Our focus on drain and sewer systems means our technicians build deep, day-to-day familiarity with blockage patterns. A general plumbing company handles a wide range of calls; our team handles drains. That narrower scope means faster pattern recognition when they walk in the door.
From the moment a technician arrives, the process is consistent: introduce, review the issue with you, lay down protective materials before any tools come out, then diagnose. Straightforward clogs get handled. When symptoms suggest something deeper, we recommend a video inspection to look inside the line before settling on a clearing method. We back our work with reliable warranties and are available for follow-up questions after service is complete.
Common Causes of Household Clogs in Cumberland County
Most residential clogs fall into a short list of categories, and which one you’re dealing with determines how it gets cleared.
- Fats, oils, and grease: Kitchen drain lines slow when these cool and harden against pipe walls, trapping food particles layer by layer.
- Hair and soap scum: Bathroom tub, shower, and sink drains accumulate a dense, sticky mass that grows with each use.
- Laundry and floor drains: Lint, debris, and sediment build up in standpipes and floor drains, especially in high-use spaces.
- Tree root intrusion and pipe scale: Aging sewer laterals in older Cumberland County properties can crack, shift, or allow root growth that narrows or blocks the line entirely.
Cumberland County winters add another variable. Freeze-thaw cycles stress buried pipe joints, and ground movement in older clay or cast-iron laterals creates ledges where debris accumulates. These conditions can turn a slow drain into a full blockage faster than most homeowners expect.
What to Do Before We Arrive
If water is actively backing up, reduce flow at the source. Turn off a faucet, pause a dishwasher, or stop a washing machine mid-cycle. If a toilet is close to overflowing, don’t flush it again. In multi-story buildings, limiting water use on upper floors can prevent backups from spreading to lower-level drains.
Avoid chemical drain cleaners. They may not clear a serious blockage, and they create safety concerns if a technician needs to open the line shortly after. A plunger or removing visible debris from a drain basket are safer first steps. If multiple fixtures are backing up at the same time, the problem may be in the main line rather than a single drain. Call us at (207) 495-7793 and we can talk through symptoms before you schedule a visit.
How Our Clogged Drain Service Works
When you contact Zoom Drain of New England, we gather basic information about the situation and schedule a visit with an arrival window. The technician introduces themselves, reviews the issue with you, and places protective materials down before any tools come out.
Diagnosis & Method Selection
Diagnosis guides the method. Straightforward clogs may need only a visual inspection and a basic test; deeper or recurring issues call for a video inspection to identify grease buildup, offset joints, or tree root intrusion inside the line. Once we understand the cause, we explain the recommended approach in plain terms: mechanical cabling for a localized blockage, or high-pressure water jetting when buildup is distributed along the pipe wall. Flat-rate pricing is confirmed with you before any work begins.
After the Work Is Done
After clearing, we run water to confirm flow is restored. If a camera was used, we walk you through the key findings. Before leaving, we remove protective materials, tidy the work area, and let you know what was done and what to watch for going forward.
Residential & Commercial Clog Service Across Cumberland County
We serve both homeowners and businesses throughout Cumberland County. Residential calls cover kitchen, bathroom, laundry, and main-line clogs. Commercial properties, including restaurants, salons, and facilities with floor drains, present distinct clogging challenges. Grease and food waste in commercial kitchens, hair and product buildup in salon drains, and solids in mechanical room floor drains all get the same diagnostic approach we bring to every call. Businesses need drain problems addressed quickly to avoid disrupting operations, and our flat-rate, process-driven approach applies to commercial service the same way it applies to residential.
Preventative Drain Maintenance for Cumberland County Properties
Clearing a clog doesn’t always eliminate the conditions that caused it. Properties with older plumbing are more prone to recurring buildup, and commercial properties with high-volume drain use face ongoing accumulation between service calls. After each visit, we can discuss whether a preventative drain cleaning schedule makes sense based on what we found. Scheduling a cleaning before a backup occurs is generally less disruptive and less costly than responding to an emergency.

Joe did an exceptional job of snaking and clearing our clogged tub drain. He even reconfigured our broken wall drain stopper. Joe was knowledgeable, well-spoken, and courteous. He left all work areas neat and clean. We highly recommend Joe and will use him again should we encounter another clogged drain issue.M C
They were so helpful explaining everything in layman’s terms. Provided video and explanation of any and all charges. We’ll use them for the work we may need to have done. This was for a sewer line inspection.Gwen Pasadena

Zoom Drain came through again! Prompt and professional service. Tristan and his assistant were amazing!Bill Thompson
We had raw sewage back feeding into the cellar. From the first phone call for help to getting the issue resolved was excellent. Super courteous and excellent service. Joe, the service technician, knew the job was too big for his rig. He called in the big guns, city workers. Working together they were able to clear the main lines, and everything is back up and draining smoothly. Thank you, Zoom team. You guys did a great job.Michael Martel
Had Zoom Drain scope an outside drainage pipe under my driveway. Evan explained the process, marked all the problem areas, and provided a thumb drive with the scope video on it. Offered other services to fix problems, but I already have a fix in place. This is the second time I have used Zoom Drain and will definitely use them again in the future and would recommend them to others.Peter Kelley
Prompt, quick, and thorough. They were great communicators of what they were doing at every step and gave me a plan and options for the future. Even though my issue wasn't drain related (thank goodness!), I'm so glad I had them come out. Worth the expense for the security.Christina Michaud
Came out same day and was able to get the clog free and the camera down the drain that no one else could do. Now we know who to call from now on.Crystal Cartonio
Most wonderful experience! Joe, the technician from the Scarborough location, really knew his stuff and did great work. Would recommend to anybody.Thomas Stone
Joe was great!! He was super thorough, knowledgeable, and honest. He answered all our questions and discussed different options with us. We'll be requesting him in the future. I liked the flat-rate pricing as opposed to an hourly rate. It helps you know what you're getting upfront. I know they've got to pay workers extra for off-hours and holidays, but the emergency fee still did seem a bit exorbitant. But maybe it's standard for the industry. I don't have enough experience to know. They were at least upfront and clear about it. We'll still be calling them again, though, for more yearly service, and we'll just hope to avoid emergency calls in the future.Jessica Zee Price
Had our sewer pump alarm go off. Called the local guy who blew us off, telling us he would see us in the a.m. We asked about what we should do in the meantime with using the toilets, etc. He told us it would be fine. When we expressed concern that we were worried that sewage would back up into our 1st floor, they literally scoffed, without even bothering to understand our system, and said it wasn’t going to happen. We spent a good part of the late afternoon and early evening calling around to find someone else and then found Zoom Drain, who were incredibly nice and empathetic. Listened to us patiently, explained the risks for using our plumbing, and suggested not to go too crazy on avoiding use of the toilets, etc., but definitely don’t do any laundry. It was pretty late in the p.m., so we set up an appt 1st thing in the a.m. Joe showed up first thing, was incredibly friendly and efficient, walking us thru his process for checking the electrical system before opening the drain. He lifted the cap and said, “Well, it’s a good thing you limited your use of the toilets,” as there was a lot of sewage in the drain. Pretty close to backing up into the basement/crawl space level, but the real issue would have been the electrical system within the drain getting flooded/damaged, which would have been an expensive repair. Adjusted the floater alarm switch that caused the problem, talked us thru various options to consider in the future to remediate the system vs specific replacement repairs should it recur. Had the estimates in my email before he left our driveway. I highly recommend calling Zoom Drain for your plumbing needs! (But hope I never have to use them again)Patrick Kelly
Highly recommend this company! Great customer service and responded very quickly.Carol ONeil
