Pipe Descaling Services
Prep Your Pipes for Pipe Lining and Keep Your System Flowing
When your pipes slow down or show signs of buildup, pipe descaling can restore their function and extend their lifespan. At Zoom Drain of Columbus we specialize in this service, eliminating years of corrosion, mineral deposits, and other debris from your pipes, leaving them clean and efficient.
Pipe descaling is a reliable, cost-effective solution for older cast iron plumbing or preparation for repairs. Using specialized tools like drain snakes and high-powered jetting, we safely remove debris without damaging your pipes.
What Is Pipe Descaling?
Pipe descaling is a professional cleaning process designed to remove built-up scale, rust, and debris from the interior walls of pipes. Over time, minerals in water, grease, and waste materials can create thick layers of buildup, narrowing the pipe diameter and obstructing water flow. Left untreated, these blockages can lead to recurring plumbing issues like slow drainage, foul odors, and even pipe damage.
Our pipe descaling service addresses these problems directly, using cutting-edge equipment to restore your pipes to optimal condition. By breaking up and flushing away buildup, we leave your drain and sewer system clear, efficient, and significantly less prone to backups, blockages, and other plumbing-related concerns.
Signs Your Pipes Need Descaling
Over time, minerals, rust, and other debris can build up inside your pipes. This buildup can slow down water flow, cause plumbing problems, and lead to costly repairs if ignored. Catching the signs early can help you avoid bigger issues.
Here are some common warning signs to watch for:
- Slow draining sinks, tubs, or toilets: If water takes longer than usual to go down, buildup may be blocking the flow.
- Discolored or rusty water – Yellow, brown, or cloudy water can mean rust or corrosion is coming from inside your pipes.
- Frequent clogs and backups: If clogs keep coming back, even after snaking, heavy scale buildup might be the cause.
- Foul odors coming from drains: Trapped debris and bacteria in the buildup can cause unpleasant odors.
- Sewage backups: In more serious cases, buildup can cause wastewater to back up into your home, especially after heavy use or storms.
- Low water pressure: If water flow feels weaker than normal, your pipes could be narrowed by scale buildup inside.
- Leaking or corroded pipe joints – Rust and corrosion from long-term scale buildup can lead to cracks, leaks, or rust around older pipes.
- Strange pipe noises: Gurgling, banging, or whistling when water runs might mean there’s restricted flow inside your pipes.
If you notice any of these signs at your Columbus residence, it’s a good idea to schedule a pipe descaling service. Removing years of buildup can restore pipe performance, prevent damage, and extend the life of your sewer system.

From the initial call for an appointment to the clogged drain opened up, Zoom Drain was amazing to work with! I would definitely recommend them if you're having drain issues.Don Ivers
Marcus and Dempsey came out today to descale and hydro jet a sewer main pipe. They showed up on time and did not leave until the job was complete. They were both so polite, so respectful, and so very conscientious with all of their work. While working to clear the main line, there were challenges with twists and turns in the pipe. I never saw them once lose their cool or get angry. They kept working diligently and did such an excellent and thorough job. They put a camera in the line several times during the process to know exactly which hydro jet head to use and to inspect the line for debris. I cannot say enough good things about these two men. I highly recommend this company for drain and sewer cleaning. Thank you, Marcus and Dempsey!Rachel Kuhar
After the heavy rains yesterday, I found my sump pump was unable to pump water to the street and the yard was flooding due to it backing up and back out the downspout drain. I contacted Zoom and was able to make an appointment right away online. A tech arrived within a couple of hours. He was friendly, knowledgeable, and happy to answer all my questions while I watched him do the work. The pricing was good and everything was presented up front. He was able to find the blockage and get things moving again. Couldn't be happier with the service and results.D M
At all levels this company goes above and beyond. My inspection was admittedly a huge pain (my fault, not theirs), and not only did Mark take the time to get me what I needed, his supervisor also came out to bring an extra piece of equipment. At no point did they try to renegotiate the cost, and it was obvious to me they knew their trade. Rarely, if ever, do I feel this grateful after paying for a service call. Thank you!Scott Duffy
Great employees. This company actually shows up the day of the appointment and on time!Ian Bullard
Brooke and the team are amazing. They were so helpful with some mysterious plumbing issues when we first moved into our wacky house a couple years ago and again tonight when I called in with an emergency concern. Thanks, Zoom Drain!!!Nellie Wilbers
When the big companies will not give you over-the-phone pricing, this one does! They were able to do the work professionally and respectful of my home. The pricing was great for the camera inspection of my sewer line.mike sandy
Solved our plumbing problem after the first two could not.Vicki Canter
They came to fix a sewer line backup and delivered amazing service. These guys are the best at their craft and provide white glove service, explaining in simple terms the entire root cause of issues, how to fix, what options are available. They also provided honest advice on how to address broader flooding issues.Mike Sutter
Very professional and explained everything where I understood. Will highly recommend.Rocky Buehl
I truly appreciate Dustin & Dempsey with the job they did, and the clean up was super nice.Blacc Titi
I absolutely cannot say enough positive words about the team of professionals, Cody and Dempsey, who worked so diligently and thoroughly to restore our line to like-new! I will most certainly recommend your company, Zoom Drain, to my friends and neighbors for any future projects. Again, kudos to Zoom Drain employees Cody, Dempsey (aka Durman), and Dustin (who helped lay the groundwork) for your awesome effort! Much appreciated!Theresa Burke
Very large kitchen sink clog, helped de-clog and Dustin gave great information and repairs and maintenance.Ryan Erichsen
Dustin did a wonderful job. Very helpful. We will always ask for him to do any work for us.Dana Warner
Dustin was here for 3 1/2 hours, and he did not stop till the job was finished. He did an amazing job, very friendly and a very hard worker! 10/10Christopher Whitt
We had an amazing experience with Dustin from Zoom Drain and I can’t recommend him enough. From the moment he arrived, he was incredibly kind, patient, and professional. What really stood out was how determined he was to solve the problem — he didn’t give up, even when things got challenging, and stayed until everything was fully taken care of. He took the time to explain what was going on, what he was doing, and what to expect next in a way that was easy to understand, which made a stressful situation feel so much more manageable. It’s clear he truly cares about helping people, not just finishing the job. If you’re lucky enough to get Dustin, you’re in great hands. Thank you again for the outstanding service!Ali Thompson
