A well-maintained septic system supports a healthy home and protects the environment. At Zoom Drain®, we deliver professional septic service through Zoom Septic™ to keep your system working as it should.
Depending on your septic system and your location in the Tacoma area, county regulations often require inspection by a qualified Septic Operation & Maintenance (O&M) Technician every 1 to 3 years. Regular inspection by Zoom Septic™ fulfills these requirements and helps your septic system run smoothly, saving you time and money.

Why Regular Septic Maintenance Matters
Septic tanks collect and store waste from your home, gradually filling with solid materials. A well-maintained septic system can operate for many years without pumping. Many providers recommend a pumping interval between 3-5 years, depending on the tank size and the number of people in your household. While a scheduled pumping period works for many homes, it does not consider all factors that affect the right frequency for pumping. Our Zoom Septic™ Inspection program uses a multi-point inspection that evaluates your entire septic system, including measurement of solid materials. We only recommend pumping when your solids reach the threshold for your system, which can save you money by avoiding unnecessary pumping and also help prevent under-pumping that can cause failures. This benefits the environment, provides peace of mind, and helps your septic system last for decades.
Beyond protecting your property, ongoing septic maintenance is also required by Pierce County regulations to qualify for many home sales and renovations. A detailed record of system care not only shows compliance but also reassures future homeowners and meets expectations during property transfers. Regular check-ups empower you to catch minor issues, such as root intrusion and slow drainage, before they escalate into large-scale repairs.
Regular maintenance provides the following benefits:
- Prevent Costly Repairs: Routine maintenance helps prevent clogs and overflow, saving you from expensive repairs later.
- Ensures Correct Pumping Interval: The effectiveness of your septic system depends on usage, tank size, and added chemicals like detergents, cleaners, and medications. With regular inspection, we recommend pumping based on your actual needs and lifestyle.
- Regulatory Compliance: Many counties in Washington require regular septic inspection. Our Zoom Septic™ Maintenance program keeps your property compliant with local regulations.
- Avoid Odor Issues: Consistent septic maintenance keeps your system operating properly, so you avoid odors and disruptions.
- Environment: Overfilled septic tanks can leak into Tacoma’s environment without filtration from the drain field. This may allow sewage to enter local streams, rivers, or lakes.
- Peace of Mind: Regular inspection and maintenance provide assurance that your system will keep working. If a component fails between inspections, we are available 7 days a week and familiar with your system so you can get it running again quickly.
- Trained Technicians: All our qualified technicians receive training through the Washington On-Site Sewage Association (WOSSA), a member organization of the National Onsite Wastewater Recycling Association (NOWRA).
- Property Value: We record each inspection and pumping with the local county. A well-documented, maintained system gives future buyers confidence in your property.
Property Sale Inspection
When you are ready to sell your property, Zoom Septic is ready to support you. Our trained technicians can perform a Report of System Status (RSS) for your septic system in approved counties when selling your property.

Jordan provided excellent consultation and inspection service to try to determine if drain cleaning services were needed. Very competent, friendly and thorough. While we need to gather more information to determine the cause of our problems, we'll definitely use Zoom if their services are appropriate for our situation.Snooze Kitty
My first experience with Zoom Drain was about a month ago at my stepmother's house. Zoom Drain responded quickly and took care of her issue promptly. My own septic issue showed up Friday night. I called Zoom Drain Saturday morning, and my technician, Corey, was at my house in less than two hours. Corey quickly figured out the issue and had follow-up services scheduled for later that afternoon. Today, Corey showed up early and had the final repairs completed in a few hours. Besides the prompt response, I was impressed by the care and service provided by Corey and the Zoom Drain team. I will definitely use Zoom Drain in the future for any septic needs I have.Dianne Meints

Jordan was fantastic! Got us in early. Explained everything clearly. And was unwilling to leave the job partially finished even when the main problem was solved. We really appreciate his, and Zoom's, help with our sewer lines.Scheyer Levis

They came out within 12 hours for a non-emergency issue, and Jordan was kind, efficient, and really informative. It turns out our clog didn’t need intervention today; he offered a camera for peace of mind if I was worried but let me know that it was totally fine to wait and see if our clog was resolving on its own since our toilet was flushing fine. Since he showed me what to look for to know it needed service, I know I can call back anytime to get them back out.Lara Hayden

Drain stopped by roots. 6 feet from c/o to tank. Hydro jetting was offered for 930.00 dollars. The size head on the jetting hose would not pass a fitting. I was told he would be back with a smaller head and get to the roots with 5000 psi and cut them. Then I was told that the smaller head may get stuck in the tank baffle. So for 930.00 dollars I got no benefit. It didn't touch the roots. Maybe a cutter head on an auger would have been a better choice or a follow up. Now I will probably have another backup soon. Not happy. Thanks, Tommy new post... I would like to commend Zoom Drain for the great response to my post. Jeremy came out and dug up the baffle and cleaned the roots. Thanks and I would recommend them now.Tom Solberg
