How We Met & Built Our Partnership
A Doorstep Encounter
In 2022, after spending 15 years in butchering and front-line team management, Phil decided to try his hand at door-to-door solar sales. One day, Phil walked up to Scott’s door and delivered his pitch. While Scott didn't end up buying solar panels that day, he was so impressed by Phil’s character, work ethic, and authentic approach that he invited him to lunch right then and there. Scott knew talent and drive when he saw it and kept Phil in mind for future opportunities.
Reconnecting & Developing a Concept
Just a few months after that initial meeting at Scott’s house, Scott reconnected with Phil. Scott was ready to venture into business ownership, and remembering Phil's exceptional background, invited him to team up and co-create a butcher shop business from the ground up. Over the next two years, they poured their hearts into developing the concept, creating the brand, and laying the groundwork together.
The Shift to Zoom Drain
While taking a break at a food cart in Oregon City, Phil and Scott were discussing their next steps when Scott recalled hearing about Zoom Drain a few years earlier. Looking into the company, they realized Zoom Drain’s core values and mission aligned perfectly with their own vision for a customer-first, high-performing service business.
They decided to explore opening a franchise, and a visit to the Zoom Drain home office in Philadelphia sealed the deal—everything fell right into place. They officially launched Zoom Drain of Portland in October 2025, and they haven't regretted making the shift for a single second.
Meet the Owners
Phil Heron
Phil brings nearly two decades of operational experience and front-line team leadership to Zoom Drain. Throughout his 20 years managing butcher shops—including leading regional store operations across Whole Foods locations—Phil consistently set benchmarks in employee retention, labor management, customer satisfaction, and profitability. A three-time All-Star winner for top-tier operational performance, Phil excels at creating workplace environments where people thrive.
Fun Fact: Long before managing butcher shops or launching Zoom Drain, Phil spent almost four years touring on the road in a band before they eventually went their separate ways!
A Portland resident for over 20 years, Phil is deeply rooted in the local community. You’ll often find him volunteering as a youth sports coach or cheering on his children at their local activities.
Scott Webber
Scott combines technical precision with nearly 20 years of B2B sales and relationship-building experience. Holding a mechanical engineering degree from the University of Washington, Scott spent years as an account manager for Trane, developing a deep understanding of complex technical systems and customer care. His ability to listen, assess complex problems, and deliver tailor-made solutions ensures Zoom Drain operates with a customer-first mindset every day.
Scott moved to the Portland area in 2019 with his family to be closer to relatives and fully embrace the Pacific Northwest lifestyle. In his free time, he serves on the Crystal Mountain Ski Patrol and enjoys woodworking, flying, and working on classic cars.
